JOBS IN THE ANTARCTIC
I am applying for Station Leader who will lead a team of skilled people on a wide range of exciting science programs on the Casey, Davis, Mawson and Macquarie Island stations.
My duties are:
- maintain the environment of Antarctica and make sure environmental laws are followed.
- develop and maintain a working station community, resolving disagreements and maintaining discipline.
- support and assist all people to cope with work and emotional issues, provide feedback and counseling.
- promote harmony in work/social interaction of a diverse team of people.
- help support scientific, management, building and planning programs.

1. Good thinking skill and problem solving skill to help science projects
- As a member of the chess club for 4 years, I have the ability to think logically. I have received over 10 certificates in good problem solving skill last year. I love science and HSIE (Human Society and Its Environment) and now I have completed my project on Antarctica this year.

2. Leadership skill, able to lead a team, discipline, good role model
- I was a member of the SRC (School Representative Council) in 2013 which meant that I was involved in organising the first hand ball sale and competition in my school. I was then included in the SRC meeting and was able to lead a team of 10 SRC members weekly. I have also been involved in the "Buddy program" to kindergarten students. I am able to set good example to them by being a good role model.

3. Physically fit to work in extreme weather condition
- I have once been to Tokyo in the winter season which I thought was very warm. I have also participated in the Spring Cycle last year. I rode 15 KM across the Harbour Bridge. It proved that I am physically fit.

- 65% of the students at my school have different cultural background so I am able to work with a team with a different background.

5. Excellent in both written and verbal communication
- In the SRC I always had to write down the minutes for the meeting. This job required good writing skills.
- When I was in year 3, I got into the public speaking competition which helped me to improve my verbal communication.
